4 Keys to managing people and team performance If you employ people or plan to do so, or are a manager, supervisor or team leader, understanding the fundamentals of getting the best out of a team will be crucial to your success.

There are many books and models out there – I’ve boiled it down to 4 elements (‘keys’) which done well unlock the difference between a mediocre and a high performing team:

  • Having the Clarity needed to do the job well and understand contribution to business success
  • Team spirit – Co-operation towards common goals, valuing and using strengths of individuals
  • Continuous learning – through feedback, sharing and stretching to new challenges
  • Connecting – beyond the team to communicate and draw on expertise of others
